The three-match ODI series between Pakistan and West Indies will start on 7th April at Providence stadium, Guyana. Pakistan outplayed West Indies in all three departments in the recently concluded T20I series. Pakistan won the series quite conveniently by the margin of 3-1. The major problem of West Indies team is the unavailability of their star players due to IPL commitment. This means there would be no Pollard, Simmons, Narine or Bravo. Samuels on the other hand was not selected for the squad as he is not available for the 50overs domestic championship. Pakistan team though looks new have more experience and exposure than the West Indien team.

Last time the two team met was way back in October 2016 at Abu Dhabi and Pakistan won the match pretty easily. West Indies were crushed to defeat by 106 runs and that helped Pakistan clinching the series as well.

Pakistan: There are lot of changes from the last team which travelled Australia for the ODI series. There is no Azhar Ali this time and the opener Sharjeel Khan and Mohd Irfan is out from the squad due to ban. There are lots of new faces in the 16 man squad of the Pakistan while Kamran Akmal makes a comeback in the ODI series as well. Pakistan will surely hand a game to one or two debutants. Pakistan will be looking to win the series and improve their ODI ranking which will be considered for direct participant to 2019 world cup.

West Indies: West Indies are without the service of their star players but they should take it as a positive thing as it gives them opportunity to enhance their youth talents. West Indies have named their 13th man squad which included the comeback of Chadwick Walton and Shannon Gabriel. Kraig Braithwaite was omitted due to his poor form in the series against England. Evin Lewis will have a new opening pair Keirin Powell with him. Jason holder will be captaining the side and should make sure that they fall on winning as they are currently 9 on ICC Rankings and team till rank 8 will be directly qualifying for the world cup 2019.
