Bangladesh has shut their critic’s mouth with an outstanding performance in both the test and ODI series against Sri Lanka. Both the series ended up in a draw as both teams won a game each. Now the team looks to lock horns in the shortest form of cricket T20I. Sri Lankan team would be riding high as their T20 form off late has been very good which included their T20 triumph over Australia. While on the other hand Bangladesh has till now performed as a team will be eager to do some upset.
With Angelo Mathews unavailable for the series due to his injuries, Upul Tharanga will once again lead the team. Kusal Mendis tough performed brilliantly In recently concluded test as well as One-day series is omitted as Sri Lankan board don’t want to burden his talents. On the other Kusal Perera and Thisara Perera has got a return call for the T20I in case Kusal Perera is fit he will get a chance to play otherwise Gunathilaka will make the cut in the playing eleven. Asela Gunaratne was in great form in Australia and would like to continue his form. The return of Lasith Malinga to the squad has strengthened the bowling attack for the Lankans.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, removed Rubel Hossain, Taijul Islam, and Shugavata Hom from the sixteen member squad for the two T20I. Mohammed Saifuddin a 20 yr old all-rounder gets a maiden call for the two T20I. Saifuddin has been a prominent performer for Bangladesh at under 19 and 23 levels and earned his call up on that basis. Tamim run of form is very crucial for Bangladesh to perform. And Shakib bowling would prove handy in slow turning pitches of Sri Lanka. Bangladesh now becomes a team which can not be taken as granted and they give tough competition in every battle they face. It would be really hard for Sri Lanka to win the series in front of their home crowd.
Last time they played: was in more than a year ago on 28th February 2016 at Dhaka. Bangladesh won the match pretty easily and Sri Lanka was 23 runs short at the end.
Head to head battle: The two Asian team have clashed five times in the shorter format and Bangladesh have won only one of the game and in rest four Sri Lanka went Victorious. So the score read Sri Lanka-4 Bangladesh-1

Sri Lanka: With Angelo Matthews not making in the final eleven and Kusal Mendis being omitted out there are some batting worries for the Lankans. Kusal Perera if fit will definitely play and likely to open up alongside the captain Upul Tharanga. Else, Gunathilaka is up for opening and Munaweera is likely to come at no 3 positions. Returning to the T20I Thisara Perera is all set to make a name for him. This means that Dasun Shanaka will miss out and they will come up with a slightly similar team which won at Australia.
Probable XI: 1. Kusal Perera/Danushka Gunathilaka 2. Upul Tharanga(c) 3. Dilshan Munaweera 4. Milinda Siriwardana 5. Asela Gunaratne 6. Chamara Kapugedera 7. Thisara Perera/Dasun Shanaka 8.Seekkuge Prasanna 9.Nuwan Kulasekara 10. Lasith Malinga 11. Vikum Sanjaya/Isuru Udana.

Bangladesh: Their batting must have boosted up with the return of Mushfiqur Rahim to the squad. And there are 3 uncapped players in the 16 squads so there is a possibility that One or two among them will probably get a game. Mehendi Hasan and Mohammed Saifuddin are likely to make a debut in the T20I for Bangladesh. Imrul Kayes will be axed due to his deteriorating performance in recent T20 matches.
