A few days back West Indies lost 2 straight games against Pakistan courtesy their batting collapses. But on 1st of April West Indies fine all-round performance won them a T20 match against Pakistan for the first time in recent past. Evin Lewis’s fine knock of 91 in the third t20 has kept the series alive and there are chances of Windies setting up a series draw.
Yesterday, Pakistan were overpowered by the Windies in every particular department. Pakistan opening pair batting failure continued and at a time they were 4 for the fall of two wickets in an over. A fine reconstructing inning from Babar Azam and experienced Kamran Akmal made sure that there are no more collapses and Pakistan reach a respectable total. The partnership at times look threatening and Pakistan was looking to score a big total. But a good bowling performance in the end By the west indies ended the Pakistan battle at the par of 137.
West Indies though had an opening failure and lost Walton wicket early. Samuels and Lewis’s partnership were essential in getting the momentum for the game. And after Samuels got out, Lewis attacked the Pakistanis bowlers mercilessly and constructed the win and his innings in a dominant fashion. Rowman Powell replacement Jason Mohammad supported well from one side and made sure that wicket remains intact. Lewis played blistering innings of 91 runs which included 9 sixes, he outplayed every Pakistani bowler and even hit Shadab khan for sixes at his will. Shadab Khan not looked at his natural best and picked a consolation wicket of Evin Lewis when only 4 runs were required.
West Indies looked energetic and were positive in their approach while on the other hand Pakistan fielding and bowling looked sloppy. The target set by Pakistan was easily chased in the end with 7 wickets in hand and 37 balls to spare. At the same venue, there is the last match of the series and windies have the chances to settle the score and end the series on a high.
West Indies WLLLL (last five completed matches, most recent first)
West indies: With a win in the last game, Indies will be high on the morals and would be hoping to replicate their performance in the last outing as well. Jason Mohammad inclusion has added a blessing to the team advance and they are unlikely to make any changes in their playing eleven.
West Indies (probable): Evin Lewis, Chadwick Walton (wk), Marlon Samuels, Lendl Simmons, Keiron Pollard, Jason Mohammad, Carlos Brathwaite (capt), Sunil Narine, Jason Holder, Samuel Badree, Kesrick Williams
Pakistan: The bowling in their third game looked pretty ordinary in comparison with their first two matches. Fielding was sloppy and there were too much misfielding especially from Sohail Tanvir. Shadab khan looked a bit uneasy in the middle but will come back in today’s match for sure. Pakistan might axe Sohail Tanvir as he was too expensive and Rumman Raees can get a debut.
Pakistan (probable): Ahmed Shehzad, Kamran Akmal, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Shoaib Malik, Sarfraz Ahmed (capt & wk), Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan, Sohail Tanvir/Rumman Raees, Hasan Ali, Wahab Riaz
In the Spotlight:
Shadab Khan: despite bowling an ordinary spell in the third game, Pakistan would be expecting a lot more from their wicket taking bowler. Shadab Khan has the greatest weapon in terms of his Googlies which leaves batsman clueless and he will surely hope for a more better performance.
Carlos Braithwaite: West Indies captain has a calibre to change the course of a match on his own, He gives all his effort in his batting, bowling and fielding. In the last game of the series, his contribution will be crucial for West Indies to excel.
Prediction: The momentum are with the Windies right now and they are unlikely to waste it. Our prediction will be West Indies as the winner of the match.
